Brian Rosenfeld photo  

Brian Rosenfeld, MD, FCCM, FCCP

Brian A. Rosenfeld, M.D., one of our co-founders, has served as our Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer since June 1998. Dr. Rosenfeld is an intensivist trained in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and anesthesiology. He has practiced critical care medicine for more than fifteen years and served as an adjunct Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions since April 1999. Prior to founding our company, Dr. Rosenfeld was Medical Director of two critical care units at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was selected Chief Resident while at Johns Hopkins during his anesthesiology and critical care fellowship, and won the Shannon Award from the National Institutes of Health. He has been inducted as a fellow in both the College of Critical Care Medicine and the College of Chest Physicians. Dr. Rosenfeld holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh and an MD degree from Temple University School of Medicine.

Michael J. Breslow, M.D., one of our co-founders, has served as our Executive Vice President, Clinical Research and Development since June 1998. Dr. Breslow is an intensivist who has practiced critical care medicine for twenty years. Prior to founding our company, Dr. Breslow was Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. During his time at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Breslow directed the surgical intensive care unit and ran the fellowship training program in surgical critical care. Dr. Breslow has served on the scientific advisory boards of the Association of University Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists, and was an officer and Director of the American Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists. Dr. Breslow holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry from Harvard University and an MD degree from Tufts University School of Medicine.

Dr. Doerfler has practiced critical care for more than twenty years and is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Doerfler has been with VISICU since 2000. Prior to joining VISICU, Dr. Doerfler was Director of Critical Care Medicine for the Department of Medicine at NYU and Director of the medical intensive care units at Bellevue Hospital and NYU Medical Center - Tisch Hospital. Prior to joining the faculty of NYU, Dr. Doerfler was an investigator in the department of critical care medicine at the National Institutes of Health, where his work focused on biological mechanisms of septic shock. Dr. Doerfler graduated magna cum laude in chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh in 1978. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1982 and received the Heard Senior prize for excellence in internal medicine.

Ms. Comeau served as Interim President/CEO at St. Joseph Hospital, a 250- bed not-for-profit acute care community hospital. As Chief Executive, she coordinated the sale of the hospital to a for-profit organization with implementation of salary subsidy models for intensivists and hospital programs. From 2000-2005, she serves as Vice-President of Clinical Operations/CNO where she was instrumental in reducing inpatient mortality, length of stay, and adjusted cost ratios. Through her career with St. Joseph, Medical College of Virginia Hospitals, and New England Medical Center Hospitals, Comeau has worked with hospital staff, as well as medical and nursing faculties, to implement flexible staffing and resource utilization programs. Ms. Comeau completed her nursing degree at Newton Wellesley School of Nursing and received a master’s degree in Health Policy and Management from Harvard University.

Robert Fromm, MD has practiced critical care medicine for more than twenty years and is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the sections of cardiology and pulmonary /critical care medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Prior to joining VISICU, Dr. Fromm directed emergency services, critical care transport, and the coronary intensive care unit for Baylor College of Medicine and The Methodist Hospital. He completed residency and fellowships at the University of Iowa, the University of Pittsburgh and the National Institutes of Health. He holds BS and MD degrees from Northwestern University and MPH and MS degree with a concentration in bio-statistics from the University of Texas School of Public.
