Telemedicine Pics and remote monitoring and intensivist and <em>e</em>ICU<sup>®</sup>Video-conferencing / video-assessment equipment provides full-motion capabilities and enables real-time interaction with on-site caregivers and patients. High-quality, in-room cameras allow the eICU® team to see each patient and make important visual assessments. eICU clinicians control the cameras' direction and magnification, and frequently used settings can be saved (e.g. ventilators, wide angle view, etc) and immediately reaccessed. Video resolution is excellent, and remote clinicians are able to evaluate many elements of the physical examination, including respiratory effort, diaphoresis, and skin color. The eICU team can easily switch between patients in order to perform virtual rounds, while an auditory cue and camera position alerts on-site staff that the system is in use.
